1. Our Products

Our products are individually handcrafted, primarily using genuine full-grain leather.

Natural markings, grain patterns, slight colour differences and small variations in handmade finishes are part of the character of leather. With use, leather may soften and develop a natural patina.

These natural characteristics are not automatically defects, but every product must still meet applicable quality standards and match its description.

2. Orders, Prices & Payment

All prices are quoted in South African rand (ZAR), unless otherwise stated.

We confirm the total price, including applicable delivery charges, before you complete your order. Production normally begins once payment has been confirmed and we have received all necessary details.

For customised orders, please carefully check and approve all names, initials, measurements, colours and other specifications before production begins. Changes may not be possible once work has started.

If we cannot fulfil an order or encounter a significant delay, we will contact you to discuss the available options, including any applicable cancellation or refund rights.

3. Production & Delivery

Most products are made to order. Our estimated production time is 10–15 working days, excluding weekends and South African public holidays. Courier delivery time is additional.

We deliver by courier throughout South Africa. International delivery may be arranged by agreement.

Delivery charges and estimated timeframes will be communicated before your order is confirmed. We will provide tracking details where available.

As we operate from a private home workshop, customer collections and in-person returns are not available.

Please ensure your delivery details are correct. If a parcel is lost or damaged in transit, contact us so we can investigate and resolve the matter in accordance with applicable consumer law.

4. Returns, Refunds & Custom Orders

We want you to be happy with your purchase and will consider return requests fairly.

For qualifying online purchases, South African law provides a seven-day cooling-off period after receipt of the goods. Applicable exclusions include products made to your specific requirements or clearly personalised. Where the cooling-off right applies, refunds and return costs will be handled according to the law.

Customised or personalised goods are generally not eligible for voluntary change-of-mind returns.

For other change-of-mind requests where no statutory return right applies, please contact us. We will consider the product's condition, whether it has been used or personalised, and whether it can reasonably be resold.

If a product is defective, damaged or materially different from what was agreed, your statutory consumer rights remain fully protected.

For qualifying defects arising within six months after delivery, the Consumer Protection Act provides remedies including repair, replacement or refund at the customer's election.

Please contact us before returning any product so we can arrange suitable courier instructions. Where required by law, return costs will be covered by Leather For Real.

5. Our Craftsmanship Guarantee

We provide an additional one-year workmanship guarantee covering defects in our craftsmanship, including hand stitching, under normal intended use.

This voluntary guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, inappropriate cleaning, improper care or unauthorised repairs.

Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

6. Caring for Your Leather

Genuine leather benefits from reasonable care.

Avoid excessive moisture, prolonged direct sunlight, extreme heat, harsh cleaning products and overloading. Clean gently with a soft cloth and use only suitable leather-care products.

Natural ageing, softening, colour changes and patina are expected characteristics of genuine leather.

7. Privacy & Personal Information

We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

We may collect your name, contact details, delivery address, order information and customisation requirements to process orders, communicate with you, arrange delivery, provide support and meet our legal obligations.

We may share necessary information with trusted service providers, including payment processors, website providers and couriers. We do not sell your personal information.

We use reasonable measures to protect customer information and retain it only for as long as reasonably necessary for business or legal purposes.

Our website may use essential cookies and, where enabled, analytics or marketing tools. Any optional marketing communications will be handled in accordance with applicable consent and opt-out requirements.

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information where permitted by law, or to raise a privacy concern.

8. Website Information & Consumer Rights

We make reasonable efforts to keep product descriptions, photographs, pricing and website information accurate. Actual leather colours may vary slightly due to lighting, natural materials and screen settings.

Leather For Real's original photographs, branding and website content may not be commercially reproduced without permission, except where permitted by law.

These terms are governed by South African law. Nothing in them removes or limits any consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will not retrospectively alter confirmed orders.
